Carly Simon’s 1972 number one hit “You’re So Vain,” contains the famous line, “Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia/To see the total eclipse of the sun.”
The song has put Nova Scotia on the map for many who’ve never heard of our beautiful piece of Canada.
Carly says the lyric was inspired by an early seventies eclipse when she read about Nova Scotia in a news paper article.
Carly and James Taylor’s daughter, Sally Taylor, heard so much about the province, that she now lives here!
(Above: Sally Taylor’s dad, James Taylor, when he last played Halifax in 2022 at the Scotiabank Centre.)
Sally’s mom, Carly Simon, is now 80 and says she’s never been to Nova Scotia.
But hopefully she can make it here some day and fly up on a Learjet to enjoy “Canada’s Ocean Playground!”
