A BC woman was heartbroken after her special teddy bear was stolen. Mara Soriano says it was an irreplaceable gift from her mother who died of cancer in 2019. The custom Build-a-Bear has a voice recording from her mom saying in part, “No matter where you are, part of me will always be with you forever. I love you.”
Recently when she was moving to a new apartment, Mara had the teddy inside a backpack. She had put the bag down to take an emergency call from a friend and in her panic, forgot about it and within 10 minutes it was gone.
Soriano searched dumpsters and put up posters in Vancouver. Then her search went viral when Vancouver-born star Ryan Reynolds tweeted about it, offering a $5000 reward for the bear’s safe return. It also caught the attention of Zach Braff and Dan Levy.
She received messages from all over the world and finally last week, received an email from someone wanting to return the keepsake. She was skeptical but got her Mama Bear back in perfect condition. The Good Samaritans had seen security footage Mara had posted online, recognized the person seen taking the knapsack and got it back from him.
When she gets married next summer, Soriano says the bear will have a special seat where her mom would have been.
There’s a Good Vibes story to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy!
