Halifax is getting its very own professional basketball team.
The Halifax Hoopers will be announced tomorrow morning at a news conference, according to a social media post from The Basketball League, a professional league for North American teams.
The League announced they were expanding into the Halifax market and unveiled the name on Sunday. They unveiled the logo Monday.
The previous team in the area, the Halifax Hurricanes, folded in 2021, following in the footsteps of another team, the Halifax Rainmen, which folded in 2015.
This is the 2nd Atlantic Canadian team, following Port City Power, who joined the league in July. The league, which was founded in 2017, now has 39 U.S. teams

League President David Magley said the league aims to create avenues for community engagement, especially focusing on schools ranging from elementary to high school.
“Everything that your kids will go through, our players have experienced, whether it’s not having a father at home, struggling academically, mistakes they may have made with the law, whatever it is we got guys that dealt with stuff, so we can encourage our young people on the next steps of life,” said Magley.
