The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia’s Sidney Crosby to a two-year contract extension!
This one will run through the 2026-27 season, carrying an average annual value of $8.7 million to match his number 87, his birthday numbers as Sid was born at the Grace in Halifax on August 8th, the 8th month on the 7th day in 1987 for number 87.

Sid will turn 40 at the end of the contract, which is mind boggling to me.

It’s a year ago this October 2nd, Sid and the Pens hosted Drake Batherson and the Ottawa Senators at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax where the Sens blanked the Pens 3-0.
I got to announce the game and introduce Sid to a sold-out rink that was a thrill.

After that game I caught up with Sidney and said, “what a thrill it was to introduce you!” Sid replied: “Ian, it would’ve been a perfect night if you had a goal call for me’ I said “next time Sid, next time!”
