Now that Halloween is over, don’t let those pumpkins on your doorstep go to waste. Your fall decorations make a delicious and nutritious treat for livestock of all kinds!
For the second year, Andrea Francheville, is collecting uncarved pumpkins for an animal sanctuary in the Annapolis Valley until Wednesday morning, October 4th, at 2 Oakes Road, Fall River.
Megan Jennex is in her fourth year of gathering pumpkins at her Cole Harbour home for Moo Nay Farms near Shubenacadie. Last year she collected two trailer loads! Her address is 97 Brookfield Avenue.
According to the farm’s Facebook page, you can collect pumpkins in your community, take them to the farm and feed the animals. Or call them when you have a full pile -they’ll pick up gourd donations in most areas of the HRM. Message Moon Nay and they’ll show up with a trailer and pickup.
You’ll make some hungry pigs, sheep, and chickens very happy!
