Back on Saturday my wife Roxanne and son Trent decided to surprise our oldest son Referee Drake Robinson at his Gold Medal Championship Game he was assigned to at the Para Cup in Charlottetown, PEI.
Just like the players, officials strive to work the Gold Medal Game, too.
Drake officiated the Gold Medal Game as well last December in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.

He was wearing # 34 in honour of the street number of the house Roxanne grew up in, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

The game was broadcast on TSN coast-to-coast, I couldn’t go as I had a Halifax Mooseheads game to announce ironically against the Charlottetown that the Mooseheads won 3-1.
The US won Gold for the 9th time in a row with the 4-1 win, Canada has to settle for Silver, again.
(The players shook the Officials hands post-game.)
China beat Czechia 4-0 in the bronze-medal final.

Great job, Drake, we’re all proud of you!
