Want to see your property on the big screen?
Screen Nova Scotia is looking for possible filming locations to attract film, television, commercial and video producers.
The Starring Your Property program has been relaunched. Owners can register on a private database that helps location scouts and managers find options for shoots. More than 1000 locations are currently listed ranging from coastlines to condos.
The organization seeks a wide array. Properties outside the Halifax Regional Municipality are in very high demand due to the new Distant Location incentive for filmmakers.
Industry Services & Locations Manager Melanie Solomon says, “Nova Scotia has a lot to offer when it comes to unique filming locations, and that includes the private homes, businesses and properties that can help production teams bring stories to life. The demand is growing rapidly – especially for rural locations – as filmmakers look to find new and interesting locations for their productions. By listing your property through this program, we can continue to showcase our province’s unmatched potential.”
NS Film and Television Location Manager, Joe McKibbon says, “Every script is different and production teams want variety and flavour – be it a high-end contemporary home, rustic cottage, kitschy bar, decaying junk yard, or fabulous historical gem. Locations can be characters in the story, and there is a wealth of photogenic and fascinating properties in this province that we have not seen on screen yet or even know exist. When a producer lands in Nova Scotia and wants to see appropriate or, better yet, slam dunk locations, our scouts have to react quickly. The SNS locations database is key to finding strong, unique, and inspired options quickly and efficiently.”
