I was sad to hear of the passing of legendary Toronto Maple Leafs Public Address Announcer Paul Morris at age 86.
Paul did 1,540 consecutive Leafs games from October 14th, 1961, to May 31st, 1999, 38 years, simply amazing!
His deadpan delivery provided the soundtrack to generations of us Maple Leaf fans.
Many of us who played street hockey as kids would do an impression of him after scoring a goal.
I was lucky to meet Paul in his Maple Leaf Gardens Announce Booth on February 28th, 1998. He was a nice guy, but quiet.
Paul is survived by Marion, his wife of 52 years.
Thanks for blazing the P.A. Announcer trail for us, Paul.
