Another transatlantic destination will soon be available from Nova Scotia if you’re planning a European vacation.
For the first time, WestJet is going to offer non-stop service from Halifax to Amsterdam.
The new flights from Halifax Stanfield will begin May 29th and operate up to six times a week as part of the airline’s summer 2025 schedule.
It’s also the first time the two cities have been connected by air in 30 years.
According to a release, the service will contribute to a 97% increase in WestJet’s transatlantic seat capacity from Nova Scotia, compared to last year.
Minister of Growth and Development Colton LeBlanc says, “Opening new routes between Nova Scotia and international destinations, such as Amsterdam, is an important way of growing tourism and opening our economy to new markets. We look forward to welcoming more visitors and creating new opportunities for Nova Scotia businesses.”
Executive Director of Operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Patricia Vitalis says, “Halifax is an exciting new destination at Schiphol and will be our sixth in Canada.”
Besides Amsterdam, the airline is launching a number of direct services from YHZ this spring, including Paris, London, Dublin, and Edinburgh.
