Halifax firefighters and their HAZMAT team have been on the go.
Crews responded to a business on Larry Uteck Boulevard in Bedford after a report of a noxious substance Tuesday at about 5 p.m.
Several people had respiratory symptoms according to a post on the Halifax Professional Firefighters Facebook page.
The substance dissipated, but the source was not confirmed.
Then around 9 p.m. crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Marketway Lane in Timberlea.
Residents were evacuated from three homes where dangerously high levels of CO were detected.
It was believed to be linked to blasting in the area.
Crews cleared the scene at 1:30 a.m.
This comes after five people were hospitalized and an 18-unit apartment building in Dartmouth was evacuated due to extreme levels of CO on Sunday.
