This past weekend the 41st IWK Telethon raised an incredible new record of $8,331,185.16 on CTV.
The donations support children, youth and families across the region at the Halifax hospital.
The fundraising began with a Tribute Show on Saturday night downtown at the Lighthouse Arts Centre with some awesome talent from 19-year-old Dee Dee Austin from Canada’s Got Talent fame, Heather Rankin, Rankin MacInnes and the Broken Reeds and many more.

Sunday’s show featured a lovely tribute to long-time telethon supporter Spencer MacKay who we lost last November at the age of 27.
Springhill, Nova Scotia’s own Anne Murray donated her blingy Team Canada hockey jersey that she wore on the Junos in March. At last check bids were over $4,100.00.

Both our boys were born at the IWK and had some major tune-ups, one at three months and the other at four months so we spent a lot of time at the IWK, they’re now 26 and 29.
Their mother, my wife Roxanne, is actually one of the producers of the telethon.

So, it’s 8.3 million thanks yous today from the IWK.
