COVID cancelled 100th birthday celebrations for a Second World War veteran on Prince Edward Island, so his granddaughter is asking people to send him wishes.
Jenna DesRoches said from her home in Woodstock, Ontario that: “It’s a pretty big deal!”
Percy DesRoches turns 100 on April 18th, and a big party was in the works, but COVID-19 had other plans.
Now Jenna hopes to honour the War vet in another way by putting the call out online to send cards and well wishes.
Percy served with the Cape Breton Highlanders and Regiment de Maisonneuve, Jenna has heard many of his war stories.
He did actually get injured behind enemy lines and once he basically had to play dead in order for them to not get him.
Cards are already pouring in just days after first posting to social media from complete strangers.
