Patrick Marleau played game number 1,768 last night to pass Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe when the Sharks visited the Vegas Golden Knights.
Marleau, 41, began his career with San Jose in the 1997-98 season at age 18. Marleau set the games played record in 23 seasons!
Howe, who like Marleau is a native of Saskatchewan, amassed his total over 26 seasons, before “Mr. Hockey” finally retired at age 51.
This was the 899th consecutive game in which he’s played, the second longest current iron-man streak among active players. He’ll play his 900th tomorrow night!
The Knights spoiled the party beating the Sharks 3-2 in a shootout.
Congrats Mr. 1,768!
