A Cape Breton music icon will be among five appointees to receive one of our country’s highest honours.
Governor General Mary Simon will invest Mabou’s Heather Rankin as an Officer of the Order of Canada on Tuesday in Ottawa.
The singer-songwriter and member of the award-winning band The Rankin Family is also recognized as a generous mentor in her field.
Deadpool actor and philanthropist Ryan Reynolds will also be invested during the special Canada Day ceremony.
Rankin and Reynolds were appointed as officers in December for their outstanding talent and service to Canadians.
The following appointees will be invested into the Order of Canada on Tuesday:
