Former Nova Scotia premier Donald Cameron has died at age 74.
He served as premier of our province from February 1991 to May 1993.
Raised on a farm in Nova Scotia’s Pictou County, his rural roots were a source of pride when in 1991 he would become the province’s 22nd premier.
On December 13th 1991 he took the tolls off the Canso Causeway.
I remember going home that Christmas to Big Bras d’Or, Cape Breton and how weird it was not having to pay the toll to get across.
