The best axe-throwers in the world are coming to Nova Scotia.
The Canadian Axe-Throwing Championships are happening in Barrington, Shelburne County August 15-17.
Darren Hudson is a long-time lumberjack sport competitor.
He says many of the best are from right here in Nova Scotia.
“The highest score ever recorded, John Buchanan from Shelburne got a 177 out of a possible 180. That’s never been done, and it happened recently. The legends of the sport are going to be right here in Barrington,” said Hudson.
Many from Canada, the U.S, and places like Germany, Switzerland and the U.K. will be there.
There are doubles, men’s, women’s and junior divisions.
“Come down to the Wild-Axe park, there’s a small admission fee. Bring your lawn chairs for the best experience, and come cheer on your favourite axe-throwers,” added Hudson.
