Northern Pulp will seek court approval to commence sales of its timberland assets.
According to a release, court-appointed monitor Ernst & Young recommends a bid from Macer Forest Holdings Inc., if no higher bids are received.
Northern Pulp operated the kraft pulp mill in Pictou County for more than 50 years before shutting down in 2020. It had been dumping wastewater into nearby Boat Harbour.
It announced in July it would begin selling off its assets following the collapse of plans to build a new bioproducts mill in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
The British Columbia Supreme Court will hear the application on Thursday.
