Those sheltering at the Cogswell Park encampment must find a new place to live because it’s too close to the new adult care facility at Robie Street and Quinpool Road.
According to a release, the Halifax Regional Municipality is closing and de-designating the site.
Notices have been issued giving people until September 21st to relocate.
A municipal policy states that designated locations cannot be within 50 meters of a school, daycare or adult facility.
The municipality says there are several available spaces within multiple provincial indoor shelters and temporary housing.
Over the next five weeks, resources and supports will be offered to those sleeping rough at Cogswell Park including transportation and temporary storage of their belongings.
