The oval is now open on the Halifax Common.
Each year the oval is transformed into the largest outdoor, artificially refrigerated ice service east of Quebec City.
The skating surface is equal to three NHL hockey rinks, and includes an accessible washroom, street parking on Cogswell Street and wheelchair access to the ice surface.

There’ll be a Skate with Santa on this Saturday, December 20th at 1 p.m. as you’re invited to attend and skate while listening to Christmas music.
Candy canes and pictures with Santa and also the Grinch will be available.
Plus, you’re also invited to take in an evening family skate on New Year’s Eve – Wednesday, December 31st, from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Free equipment rentals are available at the oval including skates and helmets.
Valid ID is required for all rentals. CSA-approved multi-impact hockey helmets are mandatory for children 12 years of age and younger.
All skaters are encouraged to wear a helmet for their own safety.

I think my record is 15 loops around the oval, have a fun skating with this Halifax tradition.
