On a cold, grey, January day, a large pile of rubble lays on the Halifax waterfront where iconic restaurant Salty’s once stood.
There was little activity at the actual site, Thursday, with an excavator on hand while just a few construction crews continue their work.
Salty’s demolition started earlier this week.

It had been a fixture of the bustling Historic Properties for decades after it was built in 1972 with staple menu items such as lobster rolls and seafood chowder.
The restaurant announced it was closing in 2024 and now that it is being demolished, there has been a lot of chatter on social media with many reminiscing.
Salty’s made its last post on social media in February 2025, thanking its patrons for the support over the years.
