June is Pride Month around the world. The month of June was chosen as a tribute to those who were involved in the Stonewall Riots in New York City, a historical event that for many is considered the watershed moment that lead to the very public fight for Gay Rights.
If you’ve never heard of Stonewall, today’s post is going to share the importance of that fateful night when members of the LGBQT+ community stood up and said NO MORE!!
I am a proud and outspoken ally for the LGBQT+ community and want to use these posts to help others understand the significance of allyship through education and conversation.
As well, I would like to highlight one member of this community in each post, to raise up queer voices that are online and share the resources they have so carefully and thoughtfully created for us all.
This is Jeffrey Marsh (they/them). Jeffrey identifies as non-binary, which means “their gender cannot be defined as simply male or female. Rather, they feel it flows beyond simply seeing themselves as either a man or woman.” You can check out their website and Instagram to learn all about their life and how you can support the LGBQT+ community too!!
