Students on the Eastern Shore will attend a new, modern school in East Chezzetcook.
Derek Mombourquette, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, announced the location of the new school today, June 3.
The decision was based on community feedback and a technical review by government experts.
“I appreciate the comprehensive feedback from the community. People in the community are engaged and wanted their voices heard. We appreciate everyone who took time to respond to the survey or who wrote to the department with their thoughts and aspirations,” said Mr. Mombourquette. “After careful review, I have concluded that the Motts Drive site in East Chezzetcook is the right location for this new school.”
The other locations considered were the current sites of Eastern Shore District High and Gaetz Brook Junior High.
The East Chezzetcook site was the only location that met the program requirements for the school and the criteria established by the minister in accordance with regulations under the Education Act.
The site, which is Crown-owned land, was supported by community members through the feedback process.
