The province is facing the loss of 38 long-term care beds in two years.
Rosecrest Communities officials say their contract with the province to provide the beds, at Ivy Meadows in Beaver Bank, won’t be renewed past November 30, 2023.
They say the facility’s location has caused significant staffing challenges for years, and they have become insurmountable.
Officials say there aren’t any plans for another company to take over the facility, so all residents will have to be moved to other nursing homes before the contract expires.
They say staff will work with Nova Scotia Health’s Continuing Care department to find placement options for residents.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our staff, volunteers, residents and their families, as well as the extended Beaver Bank community for its support over our many years in Beaver Bank,” said Tracy Bonner, Administrator of Rosecrest Communities.
The company also operates facilities Lower Sackville and Enfield, but officials say there won’t be any impacts at either of those sites.
