Tim Houston: from Facebook
The provincial opposition parties say $96.5 million in long-term care funding is little more than an election ploy.
Tim Houston, leader of the provincial Progressive Conservatives, says the Rankin government’s announcement isn’t a real plan for long-term care or for seniors.
He calls it a “cynical political move,” in an attempt to get elected, which doesn’t scratch the surface of what’s needed to fix our long-term care system.
Garry Burril, leader of the provincial New Democrats, says the Liberals had eight years in government to fix the long-term care issues in the province, but they waited until just before an election to do anything.
He says the money doesn’t come soon enough and will leave families and seniors waiting another five years before they see any improvements.
